About the Glenn Hansen Orchestra
Our Mission
The Glenn Hansen Orchestra (GHO) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Colchester, Connecticut. The mission of the GHO is to provide local venues, both public and private, the joy of listening to big band music, while school-aged students and inexperienced musicians are mentored alongside professionals in an effort to sustain the “big band” musical artform.
The GHO is an ensemble of approximately twenty musicians. Approximately six to eight professional musicians will serve as mentors on an ongoing basis. Periodic rehearsals provide for a venue where mentoring and training take place which will prepare students and professionals for scheduled performances. The students will be exposed to a variety of music genres, including, but not limited to, swing-era, The Great American Songbook, modern jazz, and current pop tunes.
